The insurmountable sound problems unfortunately ruined this promising set...

Their set is riddled with sound problems and it proves to be a real hindrance, neither the band nor the crowd seem particularly pleased. Still, a few songs shine out nonetheless, 'Soul Meets Body' is good just for the fact that the song is a masterpiece and 'Summer Skin' seems to defeat the plaguing sound troubles, but altogether the gig is less than satisfactory.

The main microphone is not nearly loud enough and the mumblings to the crowd are barely audible, each band member seems to be taking it rather differently, the guitarist evidently very annoyed whereas the lead singer's taking it in his stride. This just led to an ultimately divided atmosphere and lack of cohesion between the group. It didn't turn into an angry, hate-fuelled gig nor was it just shrugged off and got on with. A shame really, the 'curse of Oxegen' as they called it.

Disappointingly new single 'I Will Follow You Into The Dark' was left off the list and that was a shame as I, and I'm sure I'm not alone, was particularly looking forward to that one. At the end they received rapturous applause, just for being Death Cab For Cutie and playing through it for the Pet Sounds crowd, but that aforementioned guitarist was displeased he unceremoniously destroyed the keyboards with his guitar and that was that, exeunt. They were still more pleasing than Kasabian who came afterwards, shouting 'Hello Dublin, this is the first time we've been to Ireland', having played Oxegen the previous year...
