Time Bomb

The volume seems to go up a notch for the arrival of LA's Buckcherry and they get a great reaction from the still growing crowd. Front man Josh Todd gives a typical performance that's just full of energy and with the rest of the band seemingly on good form and playing off each other they impress early on.

Buckcherry play hard edged rock and roll that gives plenty of opportunity for impressive lead guitar work from Keith Nelson and Stevie D. In terms of the performance it's pretty solid and there's not much you can fault the band on, however some of the material is a little generic. 'Everything' moves into rock ballad territory and there are no surprises as the big chorus falls exactly where it should, it's a good example of how to do it but it doesn't reach the heights of the faster songs.

The crowd reaction away from the front rows is appreciative rather than enthusiastic and even their biggest hit 'Crazy Bitch' fails to really get them going; this is mainly down to the funked up, elongated intro, which they keep going back to making the song sound somewhat disjointed. Just when I think they're in danger of losing the crowd though they turn it around with recent single 'Next To You', which comes over far better and goes down well. They go out in some style and get the front rows jumping but overall it's been a mixed show that seems to leave the crowd undecided.
