Stop Look & Listen

The Hedrons make the step up from their well received performance on the Snickers Bowl last year to the third stage this time around.

The familiar set opener of 'Stop, Look and Listen' gets them straight into their stride and what's immediately apparent is that new bassist Gill has really come into her own over the last few months. With a decent sized stage to work on she really gets into it but not as much as the ever mobile Tippi! You really shouldn't give her this much space to work as she makes a point of covering every inch and is thoroughly engaging as ever.

As they move through 'Couldn't Leave Her Alone', debut single 'Be My Friend' and 'Falling Star' the crowd swells a little and they get a great reception. Unfortunately Rosie's guitar is once again not loud enough, which is always a shame as she throws out some impressive lead breaks. The highlight of the set this time round is 'Sympathy', Soup's drums sound huge and combined with Gill's chunky bass lines it sounds great. They get the crowd clapping along through 'Heatseeker' although criminally Rosie's solo is totally lost in the mix.

Anyone who's seen The Hedrons before will have been expecting Tippi to do something a little wild a some point and she doesn't disappoint when during 'I Need You' she dives into the crowd for a spot of impromptu crowd surfing. Rather impressively she never misses a note and it's another good piece of PR that follows on from last year's walkabout. They close the set with 'Once Upon A Time' and it's been a thoroughly entertaining half hour. We keep saying it but The Hedrons are a great band and they've yet to give us reason to think otherwise. Go check them out!
