Great for a first timer

Maybe this is the time we realise that the Fratellis only really work outdoors in the red hot sun, or inside where the temperature is even hotter. Either that or one year on from their triumphant emergence onto the festival scene, the fact it's still the same set of songs means their impact is beginning to ware thin.

Don't get me wrong, the Fratellis are great, the album was one of my favourites from last year and they're a fine live band. They rocked the Isle of Wight when it was sunburns all round, but with the rain in the air this didn't seem to be as much fun.

I'm sure those who've never seen them before would have been impressed by 'Baby Fratelli', 'Henrietta', 'Whistle For The Choir' and the most recent single and my current favourite of their songs 'Old Black and Blue Eyes'.

'Chelsea Dagger' rounded off the set and was given the same treatment as everywhere else, football style chanting echoed around Weston Park's main stage area, and everywhere else throughout the weekend, confirming yet again that it's the field anthem of the past twelve months.

This was still an enjoyable set, but any festival regular will back me up on this, there's always a moment when you see a band and think, for all that they're good, it's about time to move on and work on something new. When the next Fratellis album does arrive, I only hope it's as good as their debut.
