Do you wanna hear some 'alcohol'?

When CSS kick-started the party at Connect, the balloons that were spread across the stage brought to mind the bands performance at Benicassim. This was rather welcoming because the weather in Argyll wasn't helping anyone believe they were enjoying the Spanish Sun, nope, it was another damp festival this Summer.

A catsuit is usually seen as an alluring outfit but in such inclement surroundings, it was probably a fantastic way to keep warm although there are some who would insist Lovesexxy is hot enough as it is. Another startling element of the show was the Scottish accent and turn of phrases that the Brazilian lead woman was hitting out with. Perhaps all the time spent hanging out with the 1990s and proclaiming a love for Glasgow has rubbed off on the band.

Perhaps continuing the stereotypical view of Scottish people, 'Alcohol' received one of the biggest cheers of the set. It's a jaunty number and it probably helped in bringing out the sun, even if it remained a little hazy. With a brightening of the crowds mood though, the atmosphere on site started to pick up.

It was bizarre to realise it was after 6pm and the Main Stage was only starting to have some good bands on but CSS were on form. CSS have been working non-stop for well over a year now and although at times they've looked a bit jaded, that didn't seem to be the case at Connect.

With a throaty growl of "its pure great playing in Scotland", 'Lets Make Love...' concluded the set and it still stands as the bands major track. It was a slow start but by the end of the set, CSS had managed to reclaim some of the sparkle that hung around them this time last year.
