Intensely Danceable Electro-Rock Magic

I'm not going to start this review with a pun on this ridiculously fun Canadian band's name. Holy smokes, jokes about Holy Fuck's name are ... bah, forget it. The band and the band's name are great. Their set at Shepherd's Bush Empire is everything one expects from a Holy Fuck show: intensely danceable electro-rock magic.

It's rare for people to dance at a gig in London, but some do (myself included). It is almost impossible not to dance to this band. Sometimes when they play you find yourself jumping up and down, and you can't stop until the music does. It's like they're Orpheus and you're ... some weird Greek animal ... jumping up and down in the wilderness.

Holy Fuck play a very solid gig, and there are a lot of savants there specifically to see them. Asking people if they liked the band, I heard a lot of good things:

"They stick in your head."
"It's so catchy, and I think their equipment is older than they are!"
"They should've been the second band, not the first."
"No, I won't buy you a drink. I don't even know you."

So, it turns out that using retro equipment and experimenting with a genre can result in awesome things. They open for !!! sometimes, and that is an incredible thing to see as well. Check them out if you like to dance and have a good time.
