Midas Touch

South Wales alternative rock outfit Midasuno manage a decent crowd in the rocksound tent but suffer badly (along with many others on this stage) from poor sound and subsequently they are drowned out by the thumping bass coming through from the nearby Funky End tent! Despite the bass being way too heavy and the guitars way too tinny they do their best and it’s a decent showing.

They surely have the biggest drummer of the weekend in Matthew Riste and he provides a tight backing to their tuneful brand of rock. Scott Lee Andrew’s vocals are clean but delivered with a nice hint of grit, all of which fits nicely with the big guitar riffs and catchy choruses and they manage to find the right balance between heavy and tuneful. New single ‘Sister Temptation’ keeps the theme going and adds in some good harmonies and you can’t help but like them as the whole band really go for it up on stage.

They save the best until last with ‘Start the Riot’ (during which it strikes me that bassist Gavin looks like Rob Brydon!), which features some huge chugging riffs and they even manage to get a mini mosh pit going amongst the kids at the front. To round it all of in style Scott smashes his guitar up and leaves the stage to loud cheers. Good stuff and well worth checking out.
