Keep the Faith

Life As Is get a pitifully small crowd on the Surrey Advertiser stage, which is a shame as they’re not bad at all. They play tuneful, upbeat, catchy rock and do it with a certain flair.

The lead guitar work is good, as are the backing vocals. The lead vocals aren’t that great, they’re not bad but they don’t work very well on the slower sections and maybe it’s because he’s disappointed with the small crowd but he doesn’t exactly exude stage presence either. That said, the more they play the more they begin to remind me of Faith No More and to his credit the singer does get better as the set goes on but never really manages to engage the crowd (small in number though they are).

Sometimes they are a little obvious and unoriginal but you’d have to concede that they are always solid. Another of those bands that probably give a quite different experience in a proper venue but on today’s evidence they are never going to set the world alight.
