A Star Performance

I desperately want to review Polly Scattergood’s set as she is by far the most interesting new musical discovery that I made at the 1-2-3-4 Shoreditch Now Festival this year. The problem is that her set finishes over half an hour before it’s due to start, so I only manage to catch the very last tune; the brilliant ‘Bunny Club’, with its crazy refrain about having a dog and a gun and living in London. Scattergood’s music stands out even across the large park, her electro beats and fluorescent lights work perfectly with her glitzy outfit. The charismatic singer looks like London’s version of Lady GaGa with a sparkly dress and bright pink feathers that give her even more personality as she struts around the stage with a down-to-earth charm. The crowd lucky enough to catch her performance seem to lap it up as the music is perfect for a dance; it’s just a shame that poor organisation means many of fans may have missed the singer’s colourful set.
