Jury out
Hailing from London and surrounding areas Sondura are a four piece hard edged metal band that are thrown completely out of their comfort zone and given acoustic guitars for their performance on the Jagermeister stage at this year’s Download.
The sun is out and they get a couple of hundred watching, giving them a decent reception for their short 25 minute set. It’s very hard to judge them on today’s performance as it’s so far removed from their usual show. There’s not much going on in terms of performance as they’re all sitting down but the interaction with the crowd between songs is good and the songs themselves work OK in this format. The harmonies are not bad and they play well enough but there’s nothing that really grabs the attention.
I wonder what value there is for some bands in playing an acoustic set here when it really doesn’t do them justice. They are much better than this, check out their myspace and find out how they really sound!
