Straight Lines perform at the Camden Barfly

Having seen the musicians that make up Welsh band Straight Lines develop over the past several years, from performing as Said Mike back in 2009 to developing as Straight Lines, there is no surprise that the time would come where their own headline London gig would knock the socks of their fans and this was it.

Their debut album gave them the opportunity to demonstrate their style of music to the world, while their current release Freaks Like Us, was the break the lads needed to fully grasp the hearts and minds of music lovers. Having received great respect, much praise and admiration for this release, a headline tour was inevitable and one stop on the tour was at London's Camden Barfly.

If you have ever been to the Barfly, you will know there is nothing special about the venue and therefore there was nothing particularly mesmerising about the performance itself, besides the most important thing of all, the bands raw talent. Straight Lines did not need fancy lighting; smoke machines or fireworks to make a magnificent set, just their overall enthusiasm, energy and willingness to make a memorable night was more than enough. Song after song was performed from Say It For Your Sake with its sing along chorus to Half Gone and the recent single Ring The Bells - each track was lead by vocalist Tom who put everything he had into singing. The performance of Runaway Now (a Straight Lines original and not a Bryan Adams classic) was stunning with the use of acoustic guitar.

Having seen these guys perform countless times over the last few years, this was by all means the most amazing performance to date. The overall reaction from the crowd was respect, enjoyment and a stunning sense of gratification for witnessing Straight Lines get that little bit closer to reaching their full potential.
