Average Gig

First of all, as Drowning Pool's intro music it is startlingly clear that a lot of people have left after Fozzy. As the band exploded into Step Up and Sinner this was quickly forgotten though as the crowd erupted into a series of pits and fist pumping. Much like Fozzy's show though, this one lost a lot of momentum. A lot. The core reason it began to wane was the fact that whether they liked it or not, many of tonight's crowd were in there to hear tracks off of the first two albums, the less than interesting songs off of the new album proved to be even less interesting in the live arena. Also as a side point, whose idea was it to give the drummer a microphone? New lead singer Jason Moreno seemed to be doing just fine riling the crowd up between songs without the drummer having to needlessly shout over him and have everything he said fall flat on the crowd reaction wise.

Moreno's performance as a whole proved to be very impressive, his refreshing approach and humbling attitude could end up being very positive for Drowning Pool. Tear Away prompted actually one of the loudest sing-along moments I've seen coming from such a small crowd, and as the gig came to a close and the band launched into Bodies it got intense. Frankly if you're going to a Drowning Pool show you're going for a bit of nostalgia, but taking a step back you realise just how dated this music feels. The performance left most of crowd happy but as far as tours go, there are far better options out there than Drowning Pool and Fozzy.
