Fort Hope rock Camden

After the demise of My Passion last December, the bands fan base was left contemplating the future of the musicians they had come to respect. It didn't take long for four of the band members, John, Ande, Simon and Jamie, to move onto a new project called Fort Hope; and with a new name comes a new sound.

As they took to the small Camden Underworld stage as the main support for Fearless Vampire Killers on their Diamonds and Disgrace tour, much of the crowd seemed to be familiar with who the members were and their history as My Passion, but were unsure of what to expect. As it turns out, Fort Hope takes the sound of My Passion and throws it out the door - creating a new melodious rock sound, no more synths and with a vocalist who you could listen to all day long. John has a wonderful melodic voice while adds a few tougher and deeper screams at times. The accompanying harmonies and backing vocals from the band members add even greater depth throughout the performance. There were plenty of slower intros to tracks that became quite upbeat and addictive to hear. The song Control stands out as a memorable one, with the lines 'We've done this wrong before, how do we know we're doing it right?' which really stood out.

Although it has only been several months since the band formed in its current line-up and sound, there is certainly a bond with these guys that is there to stay. Their energy on stage was electric and they give a first class performance - My Passion may be history but Fort Hop is the future.
