Metal claws at the ready

After the crushing heaviness and aggression from Death Remains, and before the chaos that only Sepultura can curate, Heavy Metal band Primitai were sandwiched in between in what felt like a mad change of pace, but one that most importantly worked. Be under no illusions, describing Primitai as Heavy Metal is all it needs, we had mad duelling guitar solo's, epic vocals and metal claws aplenty. If you'd not heard or checked out the band beforehand, you would be forgiven for thinking that Primitai were going to be a South American groove metal band of the same mould as Sepultura, the fact that they were not anywhere near that instantly shocked the crowd into attention.

Playing tracks mainly off of their latest release Rise Again pretty much delivered a no-frills Heavy Metal show. Front man Guy Miller was able to kick-start a fair bit of crowd interaction including some sing-along moments and fist pumping. As they departed the stage, there was this awesome sense of "what the hell just happened". Not only due to the fact that they were so different to the other bands on the line up but because they were just pretty great live. The crowd were suitably warmed up put it that way. After many years of hard work for this band, Primitai are beginning to really make an impression, catch them live if you can, it's well worth it.
