We head into the capital to bring you June’s Band of the Month. Vita and the Vicious have been gaining a lot of praise recently and are on the verge of exploding on the bigger scene very soon.

Our thanks to Vita and the Vicious gang for answering our questions.

Bio:
Vita & the Vicious are a London based band, currently finessing their own brand of catchy, sophisticated, energetic pop/rock driven by filthy guitars and eerie synth. Their producer, Tom Wilcox (Holy Holy, Lisa Ronson) refers to their sound as Post Synthetic.

Members:
Vita Ross - vocals
Jamie Moore - drums
Matt Young - bass
Andy Manning - guitar
Matt ‘Maff’ Fowler - guitar
Florence Sabeva - keyboards

Who is the most vicious member of the band:
Jamie, the terrier of the tom toms. He’s a sweetheart but he has a temper.

Influences:
Many and varied. We often get compared to Blondie, which is fair, but if you listen hard enough you’ll hear influences as diverse as Depeche Mode, The Vaccines, Kasabian, Garbage, Franz Ferdinand and Pulp.

Sounds Like:
Blondie (with a contemporary twist)? The Cardigans (but dirtier)? Juliette and the Licks is a comparison we’ve had a lot and really love. You tell us! Who do we sound like?

Current release and where it's available:
Our Bender EP is available: HERE and on Amazon

Up and coming artists you would recommend:
Lisa Ronson - we have the same producer. She’s epic. Her album is out in September so have a listen.
Also A Lifetime with Mercury, who supported us at our EP launch. The completely rock - young, hungry, fast and furious. They’ve got the ‘it’ factor.

Future Plans:
We will be making our album this autumn and we really want to tour a lot more.

Tour Dates:
June 13th Cargo, London
June 25th The Workshop, London.

If you were the prime minister for one day, what would you do:
Compulsory music history education in schools that includes an album appreciation hour, so that the younger generation sit and listen through to an album instead of just skipping and shuffling all the time. It would help their attention spans too.

If you could go back to any time in history, where would you go and why:
The 1940s for the glamour. We could play a show with The Rat Pack.

Is there anything you would like to say to our readers:
Bring Back Vinyl! You know, skip a couple of coffees and buy a vinyl album each week. It will truly save the music industry. Also, be open-minded about new music (and old music) - push your boundaries. Get out of your ruts.
