World Domination in their Sights

An air of anticipation descends on the Bristol Carling Academy as the crowd eagerly await the appearance of French electro DJ duo Justice. The buzz is made all the greater by the poor and often tedious performance of the support act, so poor in fact that their name escapes me. This resulted in the crowd venting their frustration in the form of hurling glow sticks! Certainly a sight to be seen.

The venue erupts as the lights dim and the veil is removed from the almighty speaker system surrounding the DJ decks on stage. This is going to be loud. Very loud. Opening with a long, teasing build up before dropping the beats of ‘Genesis’, the opening track from their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Cross’, the dance floor springs to life; an energetic, foot-stomping monster with a life of it’s own, with Justices’ infamous cross logo illuminating the joyous faces. All is perfect until… the power cuts out. Silence, the lights are back on, Justice look genuinely worried! But within a few short minutes, all is well again and the beats return. Oh the joys of modern electronic instruments!

As you would expect from the DJ duo, each track is mixed seamlessly into the next, with the odd teasing melody thrown in to spice things up. Covering the majority of ‘Cross’ in the same order as the album track-list, ‘Genesis’, ‘D.A.N.C.E’ and ‘DVNO’ all go down a storm and have the sweat-soaked masses in raptures. The biggest cheer of the night however, came with the Justice Vs. Simian track ‘We Are Your Friends’, which became a dance floor hit worldwide upon it’s release. The atmosphere was electric; complete strangers were grabbing and dancing with each other, totally lost in the music in an incredible party atmosphere.

Despite providing an excellent hour-long set, the insatiable crowd still demanded more. Two encores and four tracks later the DJ duo finally step out from behind the decks to a tremendous ovation, showered with glow sticks as they take their well earned bow at the front of the stage. A great performance and a fantastic atmosphere, leaving every fan with a huge smile on their sweat soaked face. World domination is sure to follow.
