A band never let down by faults

HelloGeiger were a new band for me, never heard of them, never seen them and never heard any of their material. After watching them play at the Water Rats, they made a tiny impression but seemed to be casualties of blunders.

Imagine Michaela Strachan on a night out, a little worse for wear, and you have lead singer Sue. Within this performance her vocals, according to her, were not up to scratch; it could be the drinking, as it did seem like she’d had a few. The there is Geoff giving a running bass line and backing up Sue’s vocals. Once again this was a low point, literally as his voice could hardly be heard over the tones of the music. Tom on guitar really seems to be the spark pulling together the other band features and with the crashing drums by Mike, the band is complete.

With tracks such a ‘Not the Same’, ‘Fragile’ and ‘Crash’ being performed, a small snippet of the bands talent began to make itself known to those that were unaware of the bands sound. Unfortunately, the band seemed to be victims of faults with the megaphone not taking effect on the first track, what a way to open. Playing edgy dance indie pop tunes with lyrics about life and love to a crowd of maybe 30 individuals takes guts and a vibrant personality, which Sue has without a doubt. I look forward to hearing what the debut album has to offer.
