Being one of three support acts playing the Forum and opening for the Blackout, Canadian rockers Silverstein took this opportunity to prove they are capable of creating a set that could take away your breath.

When Silverstein performed, they worked hard to make a set that was loud, ecstatic and very entertaining. They performed some very enjoyable songs such as ‘I Am the Arsonist’, ‘Smash into Pieces’ and ‘Smile in your Sleep’ which were intensely demonstrated. On the compilation album ‘Punk Goes Pop 2’, Silverstein provided a cover of One Republic’s ‘Apologise’. They also granted us the pleasure of this performance and it received a great response.

When standing and looking at the stage with these five performing, they looked as though butter wouldn’t melt, sweet and innocent boys. When lead vocalist Shane Told opened his mouth to sing, my opinion changed. At one minute his voice completely backed up my original thought, very gentle with a slightly popish touch to it. Then at the twitch of a nose he was able to change his voice to a rougher screech. Two completely different voices coming from the same person is a talent to hold onto, as usually bands need two vocalists to achieve such a thing, not Silverstein.

Each support act on this particular event had slightly different styled music and Silverstein were probably my second favourites of the night. I can’t wait to see them perform again.
