Lights and Sounds make it BIG

When you are standing outside a venue waiting to go in, it can be a little annoying when people bombard you handing out flyer after flyer after flyer. However, when standing outside the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and a band come along asking for your support, I couldn’t help but be intrigued by unfamiliar faces. Lights and Sounds decided enough with the flyers and gave out stickers (in the hand and threw them out of the windows) instead, a whole lot of people stuck them all over themselves ready to go through the doors and have a night of exciting music. These guys also took the time to meet and great prospective fans, having their photos taken and just a general chitchat before heading inside and onto the stage.

When it came time to perform, I think the crowd were a little shocked at first considering the bands style of music in comparison to that of the main act, Metro Station. You would expect some similarities in style, but there were none, however this was not a bad thing in my opinion. Lights and Sounds is a much less “in your face” sort of act, their tunes were very melodic power-pop with a slight edge, upbeat but take their time to gently work into your mind rather than just blasting out in full swing. As they were singing and playing, the tracks were all incredibly catchy, ‘We Were Here’ was definitely the one to be remembered. These guys really got into the swing of things, gave a relaxed yet strong performance and treated the fans to a few copies of their recent Ep release ‘Feels Like Gold’. Between the sweet enduring vocals of lead singer Max and the ambitious music, Lights and Sounds have a bright future ahead of them.

The guys are playing a few dates this month and then heading out on tour with Out of Sight in September; catch them while you can.
