The Charlatans

With their 80’s retro style of rock, the charlatans played well and gave a good performance, but towards the end of their seventy minute set, they became repetitive and verging on boring. They almost certainly needed some more drastic variation to their choice of songs. The harmonica playing was very impressive, but the audience didn’t in my opinion seem to get into this set so much as other bands’.

The Libertines member, Carl Barat, briefly gate-crashed the stage to apologise for their cancellation and suggested “maybe next year”, so there is hope for fans yet, after much disappointment, particularly as their replacement was the football, which lets face it, you can watch anywhere.

The Charlatans are without doubt good performers with great music, but they just weren’t as captivating as you’d expect from a band that’s been around for fourteen years.
