Kodiak Jack - London album launch

When the Kodiak Jack album "Your Death: My Glory" landed in the laps of Room Thirteen for review back in the summer of last year, first impressions of the album were high as they combined just the right ingredients to form a rock infused album. However, seeing band perform their tunes on stage is a very different experience than sitting back and listening to them in your own home.

The night opened to a pretty empty room, however as band after band after band continued to make their presence known on the small stage of the Monto Water Rats in London's Kings Cross, the room began to swell, so far so that the temperature became quite uncomfortable. Thankfully, when Kodiak Jack finally took to the stage for their London album launch show, things had literally calmed and cooled down a little, although emptied out a tad at the same time. Having said that, the people that remained were there to have an amazing night of music and madness, by a band they admired, judging by the quantity of Kodiak Jack t-shirt wearing individuals jumping and dancing around. Many of the individuals had travelled from the South of England just to see the band (Kodiak Jack are Portsmouth-based), and they were apparently very pleased with this evenings result.

The band kicked off thir set with an explosion of sound, soaring through the album tracks while throwing in the odd new one for good measure. Just like the album, the songs were ear piercing with their sharpness; solid with their guitar riffs while energetic with their melodic rock. However, with the live ambiance, screeching of guitars, yelling of lyrics and the two dozen individuals dancing around, this was a wonderful live performance of a well structured and presented album.

Here is hoping when the band returns to the Capital for their next visit the crowd would have doubled in size and more people are open to the sound of Kodiak Jack.
