Paul Weller is to receive The Outstanding Contribution To British Music award at next year's Brits, and rightly so.

The former Jam and Style Council man will be honoured at the 2006 Brits ceremony at London's Earl's Court on February 15. We'll find out who else is up for awards on 10th January.

BPI Chairman Peter Jamieson has said of this award:

"The Outstanding Contribution Award is the highest honour the UK record industry can bestow. It is reserved for those whose influence, longevity and creativity puts them in the very top ranks of UK artists. Paul Weller is an artist who scores on every measure and typifies the range and quality of British music at its best."
