The Proms might not be associated with rocking bands but this year is different. The BBC has created Electric Proms, a massive festival featuring the best in electric music, with two of the attractions already announced being a performance of The Who's 'Tommy' and their new album 'Wire & Glass' and the debut of Damon Albarn and ex-Clash bassist Paul Simonon's 'The Good, The Bad and The Queen'.

The five day festival will take place around Camden from 25-29 October 2006. Tickets for these first confirmed events will be available from Wednesday 16th August at 10am, but of course BBC TV and radio will offer you the chance to catch the highlights live in your living room.

Other events planned include film programmes, workshops and more performances, so watch this space.
