This year's Grammy nominations are now out with Red Hot Chili Peppers leading the rock nomination count with 6 possible awards including Album of the Year and Best Rock Performance By a Duo or Group With Vocal for 'Dani California'. Their dominance in this category is contested by Coldplay for 'Talk', The Raconteurs for 'Steady As She Goes' and the mighty combination of Green Day & U2 with 'The Saints Are Coming', so it looks like tough one!

Wolfmother, Tool, System of A Down, Nine Inch Nails and Buckcherry and battling it out for Best Hard Rock Performance. While it could get messy in Best Metal Performance as Slayer, Mastodon, Lamb of God, Ministry and Stone Sour go head to head.

The Flaming Lips and David Gilmour have gained their rightful places in 'Best Rock Instrumental Performance', alongside those ever-present Sheffield scamps Arctic Monkeys.

As for Best Rock Song, the great Bob Dylan's 'Someday Baby' will be challenged by fellow rock veteran Neil Young with 'Lookin' For A Leader', Red Hot Chili Peppers again with 'Dani California', Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars' and The Killers 'When You Were Young'.

Hot tips for Best Rock Album are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Raconteurs, Tom Petty and Neil Young, while Best Alternative Music Album is pretty fruity with Arctic Monkeys up against The Flaming Lips, Gnarls Barkley, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Thom Yorke.

Best New Artist sees Imogen Heap go up against the cream of pop with James Blunt and Corinne Bailey Rae representing the UK and KT Tunstall doing her bit against some mainstream contenders in Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for 'Black Horse And The Cherry Tree'.
