The biggest selling album of 2006 has been revealed.

Snow Patrol's 'Eyes Open' outsold the come back album from Take That to become the most bought from the past twelve months.

The top ten reads:

4. Arctic Monkeys – 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'
5. Kooks – 'Inside In, Inside Out'

8. Westlife – 'The Love Album'
9. Pink 'I'm not dead'
10. James Morrison – 'Undiscovered'

Jack Johnson's 'In Between Dreams' just missed the top ten landing at 11, with Killers 'Sam's Town' at 12 and 'Under The Iron Sea' from Keane was 14.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers' double album 'Stadium Arcadium' is 2006's number 15, with the Christmas best of rush helping the Beatles and U2 to make the top 20 at 17 and 19 respectively.

Outside the top twenty highlights included:

Meanwhile in the singles the song which has been the soundtrack for many in 2006 'Crazy' by Gnarls Barkley held off the challenge from the buying power of housewives and teenage girls everywhere with X-Factor becoming the second biggest seller for the year.

'Crazy' made history when it became the first song to go straight to number 1 on download sales only, and spent five weeks at the top of the chart.
