Just 48 hours away from V Festival's gates opening to hoards of campers and an announcement from the press office lands in our inbox.

"Regrettably, Jet will no longer be performing at the V Festival this weekend."

The statement goes on to say that as Jet's Nic and Chris Cester's father, John Cester, died earlier this week - the band have reached the decision to cancel their performance at this year's V.

The rest of the statement readers as follows:

Jet’s management request that at this dreadfully difficult time that the privacy of Nic and Chris, and their family and friends is respected.

Denis Desmond, V Festival organiser: “Our sincere and heartfelt sympathy extends to Nic, Chris and the Cester family. It is regrettable that Jet will not be appearing but we and their fans will completely understand their decision.”

The band will not make any further statements at this time.

V Festival can confirm that Jet will not be replaced.



At the same time - it looks as if headliners, Muse, may not be able to perform as bassist Chris has injured his hand. The band are currently awaiting medical results and have considered replacements. Their website readers, "We will of course keep you informed on this matter as soon as we have any news. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding at this time.".
