Spillers Records, the world’s oldest record shop, established in Cardiff in 1894 by Henry Spiller is to close in it's current location at the end of June due to rising rent brought on by the new 'St David's 2' shopping complex development in the heart of Cardiff.

The owners have issued the following on their website:
"Spillers Records has been featured in a few newspapers recently, and there has been a lot of ‘gossip’ on facebook and twitter about us too. We would just like our customers to know that our situation may not be as dramatic as some people are making out. It is true however, that we will be leaving our current premises by the end of June 2010."

It is not known as yet what will happen to Spillers, which is not only a record shop, but to many in the area the hub for the music scene.
