The beautiful people…
Led by two female singers from Persia, RazorBladeKisses are a Gothic band that mix up dark Industrial Rock with a quirky alternative twist. Like a musical creation from the mind of Tim Burton, the band dress the part in a spooky-fairytale guise, pushing the realms of reality and making you question everything that you thought that you already knew.
This is a double A-Side offering from the band and both songs contrast each other showcasing the extremes of the band. ‘Ballerina’ has big Metal guitar riffs, thumping bass drum and a violin flitting around like a sprite, whilst the haunting lyrics sweetly sneer out like Tori Amos trying to be Marilyn Manson. It’s a good track. This then slows down to a mid-tempo track that is, ‘The Butterfly’. It has a big electric-drum beat and electric-acoustic guitar with quiet almost whispering lyrics being the beauty to the aforementioned songs beast.
There is no doubting that this is a niche market, however within this RazorBladeKisses are one of the best. This is good stuff, from the music, the lyrics and the ideology of it all. It’s a tasty apple treat from an enchanted garden that is well worth a visit.
