Melodic Rock With Extra Bite
Taken from their forthcoming debut album which is due out in the autumn, Manchester's Airship set out to tantalise the eardrums with their latest single, 'Kids', a kind of stepping stone to get everyone set for the launch of "Stuck In This Ocean" and it's certainly not a bad way to hold you over until the full length is released.
With enough bite to please the rock fans and yet with an unapologetic melodic hook to ensnare those who tend to resist all urges to head bang, 'Kids' is a track that manages to straddle both spheres with ease and as such should gain Airship a wealth of new followers. With a title like 'Kids' it is fitting to find singer Elliot Williams singing lyrics which reminisce wistfully about growing up but it is the intensity of the drums and bass that ultimately lay claim to 'Kids'. Relentless in their pursuit to get toes tapping, the combination of both is key to the track and whilst the angst fuelled lyrics may have you singing along, in the end 'Kids' will propel itself into your inner core with sheer force. 'Kids' takes melodic rock and gives it a healthy dose of extra bite.
