Bakc To The Rock Roots

Liverpool trio The Loud aren't ones to turn out a record that sparkles as if it's been polished to within an inch of its life by Mr Sheen. This is a band that like things rough, back to basics and rippling with that live sound that threatens to burst through at any given moment. It's fitting then that their latest release, "Harris Shutter" is an EP that does exactly that.

Lacking only the glitter make-up and cork screw hair, 'Amy's Gonna Get You' is Bolanesque to the nth degree. Full of thumping bass and glam rock swagger, it's the track to have the pub crowd nodding their head along too whilst simultaneously filling up the dance floor. 'Horror scope' sees the Liverpuddlian's upping the 60s garage sound vibe with a psych edge bubbling nicely beneath each riff whilst 'There's A Bomb In The House' is a melting pot of T-Rex, The Yardbirds, The Faces and even a touch of Slade foot stomping greatness before 'Avida Dollars' brings things back to the present time with a sleaze edge to revel in.

If you want polished, if you want your music to sound like it's just rolled off the nearest production line then perhaps the X Factor is more your cup of tea or else head for the closet boy band around, The Loud just aren't like that and in a world over saturated with manufactured pop and sadly even rock now days, that is no bad thing.
