A Blast Of Freshness

At a time when everyone seems to be trying their damndest to sound like their favourite band and forgetting to add their own touch of genius and originality to the music they fell in love with originally, it is a refreshing change to find a band that aren't attempting to rip off everyone elses sound. Quirky, undeniably melodic and with enough bite to get the rock juices flowing, Midlands based trio The James Warner Prophecies may wear their influences on their sleeves but that doesn't mean they're ripping off their heroes; instead with their latest album, Things Change you'll find a touch of Foo Fighters blasting alongside The King Blues and even a hint of Frank Turner thrown in for good measure all blended together and given a very distinct The James Warner Prophecies sound, creating an album that refuses to be defined but will be welcomed by all.

Kicking things off Define is a melodic master class in how to craft a hook heavy rush of rock to entice all. Jaunty, energetic and packing a toe tapping beat, it is actually somewhat of a sedate introduction into the trio's world, one that ushers you in safely before the punk punch of Justified elbows its way into your affections only just managing to hold its own against the blues fused sway of James Warner's Last Dying Words. Things Change certainly refuses to churn out the same song or style continuously making for an interesting listen from the fun filled ska laced Av A Bite that jabs and thumps with unquenchable energy to laid back clam of Holding On through to the snarling rawness of title track,Things Change, there is truly something to suit everyone whatever their mood.

Things Change is without question a blast of freshness that should be heard by all. With humour bubbling beneath the honest led lyrics, The James Warner Prophecies have created a distinctly British sound that is brilliantly immune to any pigeonholing that tries to befall it. Original yet accessible, Things Change is like an old friend, you'll easily find yourself happily listening along, quick to hit the replay button whilst all the time wondering why it's been out of your life for so long.
