Ok Go rev it up

OK Go live the rock'n'roll lifestyle. Who wants to sip Jack Daniels in a sleazy bar & grill in Tinseltown, whilst then getting hookers to scream in pleasure in the background of your songs? No, what is really hard is travelling to Malmo, Sweden in the height of Winter to record an album with a producer who says that he won't start smiling and dancing if they do a good recording, but will simple comment that it's okay - if however, he remains silent then it is to be taken that they must repeat their recording until it's okay. Them Swedes are tough, kids...

So what we get with these harsh conditions is a great funky indie track that is original and just as addictive as JD and hookers in LA - or so I'm told. Tim Nordwind's bass line is so thick and chunky that it compliments the lighter riffs and Dan Konopka's drumming is also at a feverish pace that it would seem that each one is technically gifted individually but also capable of mixing it up and merging into a delightful musical medley.

It is said that OK Go have "...tightened up the screws and trimmed the fat, delivering stripped down revved up wild, propulsive rock and roll...", and maybe that is indeed the best way to describe them. Propulsive is indeed a word that just isn't used enough, and OK Go do indeed drive forward pushing the musical boundaries to produce something that is nice to listen to off of the cuff, but when you look deeply it also offers some technical craftsmanship all of its own.

It's not just indie rock, but good honest propulsive indie rock!
