Youthful Exuberance With A Little Dash Of Maturity

Blasting out of Nashville in a hail of energy, angst and fun, Be Your Own Pet consist of four teenage tearaways who demand attention from their first punk thumping drum beat to the last angst-drenched vocal of lead singer Jemina Pearl who offers a persuasive nudge that's pretty hard to ignore.

'Adventure', the latest instalment from BYOP allows a closer insight into the band. Having proven that they have mastered the quick punk punch with 'Let's Get Sandy (Big Problem)', 'Adventure' is slightly more introspective and offers a new mature sound to the band. Manic drum beats entwine with vocals that are at times sung with a youthful exuberance and yet can be just as effective when they are vigorously spoken too. Above all else though, Pearl always maintains the mid-western twang that makes her voice so distinguishable, enabling her to blend so well with the rest of the band and helping BYOP stand out from the crowd. BYOP have firmly stepped up to the plate with 'Adventure', proving that they are more than a teenage flash in the pan by adding a sense of maturity to their music but still retaining the youthful charm and spirit that makes them so endearing. The training wheels have certainly been discarded with this track and all seems to be on course for Nashville's latest exports.
