Indie - slightly better than the norm...

Sheffield's Little Man Tate are slowly making waves in the music industry with their inoffensive and catchy guitar-driven Brit-rock. This is plain to see in their single 'What? What You Got'. Starting with a deep bass line and short quick riffs, the song's intro builds up until the vocals from Jon Windle kicks in with his Yorkshire twang giving us no doubt as to what part of the country he comes from!

B-side song 'Young Offenders' is an up tempo number, albeit nothing too special and it's all too easy to bring forth comparisons with The Killers. My love of Franz Ferdinand, Keane, Futureheads etc.has been mentioned more than a couple of times in these pages, however as much as I'm not a fan of this genre as a whole, there are elements that as a music fan you cannot deny, and it's these things that The Killers and Little Man Tate are able to show. There's a backbone of good old fashioned rock'n'roll here that understands the importance of every instrument and where their roles are.

Little Man Tate will do very nicely for themselves whatever I say, however if you, like me, are normally put off by bands better suited to university trend-followers, then this could be a band that you may still want to check out, if of course, you haven't already.
