Free From Winter Chill

Taking their name from the season all five band members were born in, Winterkids bring indie art-pop to life with youthful exuberance in their double A-side debut single release.

'I'm Not Used To You' mixes indie rock with electro pop as vocal harmonies lock with a catchy rhythm that pulls you further into the song. With the faintest hint of The Cure and even a slight glimpse of The Smiths flowing through it, 'I'm Not Used To You' eases along with a classic yet contemporary feel to it as it grips tightly to its indie roots allowing for only the cleverest of electro twists to find their place on the track.

Favouring the electro pop style 'Fed Up' provides a strange mix of uplifting instrumental and sweepingly light vocals with somewhat down beat lyrics. More for the mainstream listener then the trend following indie crowd, 'Fed Up' breezes past in a radio friendly fashion. With enthusiasm, catchy melodies and hooks that drag you in Winterkids debut single offers a great deal. Sure, the tracks may not be overly original but you can certainly sense there is more still to come from this five piece and going by this release that is no bad thing.
