Opportunity knocks!

Arizona punker rockers Last Action Zeros come blasting out behind their album 'Blue Collar Biography', with a great demo to wet the appetite of fans and record execs alike! First song, 'Enemies' is straight up street punk in vein of The Casulaties and Total Chaos, bombarding your head like a violent mugging leaving you dazed and confused.

'Skrew You Guys' takes a different turn and perhaps shows a new and very positive direction with a catchy-as-hell punk rock song leaning more towards Rancid, Left Alone and Time Again. Singing, "And If I leave here tomorrow // Would you know? Would you care? Would you even think about it? // I don't think so!" Mike shows that his vocals are perfect for this mid-tempo range.

Last song on this mini-taster EP is 'Career Opportunities' which just shows how much better each song gets, although it is hard to pick a favourite between this one and 'Skrew You Guys'. This is pure street punk with lyrics about working on the docks, and the rare opportunities open to the working class. The thing is the music and verses are so addictive that they could be singing about cross-stitch or cricket and it would still be interesting! Although the stand out lyrics of, "Do you wanna make tea at the BBC // Do you wanna be, do you really wanna be a cop? (no fuckin' way!) // Rare opportunities the ones that never knock // They've always got an offer to keep you off the docks // rare opportunities the ones that never knock!"

This is definitely been a positive year for street punk with great albums from the likes of Time Again, The Briggs, Left Alone, The Casualties and Total Chaos. After a moderate offering of 'Blue Collar Biography', Last Action Zeros look to be coming up with a winning formula with this demo. It may only be a three-track EP, but it's the best goddamn EP I've heard this year! All we need is Mr Armstrong to sign these boys to Hellcat Records and we'd have the perfect Hollywood ending!
