Thank God it's not a Dubstar cover...

Formed late last year in Manchester, The Beep Seals have a remit to prove that the city is capable of producing more than one stadium-busting band - though the debate still rages as to whether Oasis are still good enough to actually fill one these days. One thing is certain however: The Beep Seals couldn't do it - well not yet anyway.

Drawing influence from Acid Mothers Temple, Pavement and Super Furry Animals, The Beep Seals play unpretentious, good-time poppy rock. With its fuzzy keyboard licks, market-fresh Elliott Smith-style vocals and super-clean guitars, 'Stars' is a slender slice of bright-and-breezy indie-pop - with a Black Sabbath mid-section hook to boot.

While they may not be as catchy as Arctic Monkeys or heavy enough to convert die-hard metalheads, The Beep Seals have crafted a decent enough debut single that's sure to attract attention.

The future may well be bright for The Beep Seals and I for one reckon that it is well worth keeping an eye on the download charts for the next few months.
