Dan Deacon- Crystal Cat

Crystal Cats, out 20th August is the latest single to be taken from new album "Spiderman of the Rings" released earlier on this year. Dressed head to toe in typical Timmy Mallet fashion, Dan Deacon looks like a mixture of the legend that is Elton and the oddly endearing comedian. Far from his classical music training days is the new release- part of the brilliant "computer fuzz" concoction of Spiderman of the Rings.

The appraisal has spoke for itself, with crystal cat receiving raving reviews, personally reminiscent of Muse with a dance edge and the obvious comparisons to Basement Jaxx and Honeyroot.

Something I cannot say on a regular basis at the moment- I actually muted the Hoosiers myspace page for this single, and more than once. I really enjoyed the Basement Jaxx-esque of the B-side and the build up of tempo on the single made me want to put on my best clobber and hit the town. Thing is- I like his abnormalities. I like the fact that regardless of the way he dresses, or the way that his music appears ever so slightly out of time- this is a catchy, feel good dance tune. The underdog genres of music are coming through and boy are they taking off.
