Whatever you do, don't label them folktronica....
'Bricks' is the brand-spanking-new single from Tunng and the precursor to the brand-spanking-new album 'Good Arrows' - which I presume is all about darts...
Apparently unhappy with the folktronica tag attributed to them by the music press, (don't look at me - I had nothing to do with it) Tunng have thrown away the map and compass and headed into the unknown...or the territory of pop music if you need more comprehensive directions.
Fuzzy bass samples and crisp electro loops supplement the acoustic guitar introduction perfectly and even more delightful is the fact that the song defies established expectations to build into a full-blown folk-rock trip, preferring to stick with its simple and elegant (and also quite beautiful) arrangement throughout.
'Bricks' is certainly worthy of a purchase and if you want to catch Tunng live, either head over to the Moseley Folk Festival or Isle Of Wight Bestival, both of which kick off in early September.
