The Downfall of Feeder?

I must admit, in my foolish haze of pressing optimism I was rather hoping that after over a year’s absence, these guys had finally come up with Buck Rogers mark 2,or at least something it’s class equivalent.

Now scathing intro aside, this song aint a complete flop. I can even imagine its inspiring chorus coming across rather good live.

…But I’m not listening to it live, I’m listening to it in a shed somewhere West of Luton. And right here right now, with the non-offensive, middle-road audience beckoning guitar strums and tiptoeing tempo, I’m not all that thrilled.

Considering this is the first, and therefore supposedly most enticing release from their brand-spanking new comeback album, (to be honest, I didn’t notice they’d gone away, did you?!), I can’t imagine the rest of the album being much cop either.

If indeed it is, and it has better tracks for effectively bringing back its wavering audience into the fold, then why aren’t I listening to one of those instead?

An ok track, catchy at times, and even engaging at others, but this is no time for sporadic moments of catchiness and whimsical engagement.
