The blues brother!

Son Of Dave, is I fact a guy by the name of Benjamin Darvill, however we are unsure as to whether his father was or was not in fact called Dave, although what we do know is that Benjamin has 22 years musical experience and within an industry that is fickle, trust me, that is pretty damn impressive!

If you like your music well matured like a fine wine, a cheese, or perhaps a good woman, then look no further that the great blues band, Son Of Dave. They play straight up blues done in the classically raw and original form with a slightly contemporary beat, not any of this watered down rock/blues that the young bucks nowadays try to pass off, no, this is the stuff that smells of cigarette smoke, leather, grease and ladies perfume.

The single, ‘Old Times Were Good Times’ is taken off of the forthcoming album, ‘03’ (which you won’t be surprised to hear is the follow up to 2006’s, ‘02’) and is due for release in mid April. It’s a catchy little number with deep well-lived vocals and backing vocals that spark off images of the 1920’s and 1930’s • although perhaps that’s just me. If one-time fourth Beastie Boy, Keyboard Money Mark gave up his keyboard and decided to take a course in the blues then Son Of Dave would be just what he would sound like.

Starting off with a thick and deep harmonica, and then followed by a chunky beat, ‘So Good, So Wrong’ plods along nicely giving you something to nod your head to. It’s a foot stomper alright, and there is something about this music that makes me want to give money to charity, and fell lucky about my world.

Having already appeared on ‘later With Jools Holland’, and appeared supporting Supergrass on their recent tour, Son Of Dave are the heart and soul of the thinking man’s genre. This is the original Emo, kids! Great stuff.
