Lightspeed Champion (reissue)
Last time I reviewed a Lightspeed Champion track I got a funky pull out comic book press release. He need not pull the tricks out the bag to such an extent given the instant hit ex-Test Icicles boy has become, what a difference 10 months can make. Almost a year on, and Dev Hynes can’t be that non-existent indie kid any longer; not that his general appearance ever allowed him to be such but you get my drift…
Still a huge fan and still an awesome track; regardless of the perhaps over edited version. It is infectious, fantastic, hilarious and memorable all at once. Backing vocals from Emmy the Great can’t be faltered either; this track fits the bill we all wanted it to. Catch Hynes and co out and about over the next couple of weeks; playing the hugely anticipated Great Escape Festival in Brighton on the 17th May. Did someone say Test Icicles?
