As refreshing as a nice bru!

Glaswegian rockers, Urbnri, (whose name is cunningly Irn-Bru spelt backwards!) release another track off of their forthcoming album, 'Young Team', that is hot on the heels of the fantastic, 'Young, Free & Simple' that gate-crashed the Top 40 recently.

'Back Me Up' is a great anthem of a song that starts with a nice guitar riff before the pounding rhythmic beat kicks in, and the vocals wash over in a seductive and catchy way. Okay, I'm going to say it, I didn't want to, but I will. There is something about the verse that makes me think of the Police song, 'Every Breath You Take' as for a second the vocal melody is very similar, however for me this is an added bonus. Phew, I'm glad that I have got that off of my chest now!

Now for some reason Urbnri feel the need to include two remixes of this song. Firstly we have the 'Oliperphonic Remix' and then the aptly titled, 'Wonky Remix'. The former is slightly better, although both have a bit of a dance influence in the added electro beats and synthesisers which I guess will appeal to a wider audience as this track could well be in dance clubs as well as alternative and rock clubs. They remind me very much of the band Arkana that had a handful of hits back in the mid 90's mixing rock and dance quite successfully before slipping off of the face of the earth.

This is a good track (and not just for fans of the Police!), and led by the charismatic Kev Tait, Urbnri are a band that mix together everything that has been great out British rock of the past 30 years. You could say that the extra time of contemplation in Her Majesties Pleasure for Kev Tait, has given him the ability to think over his songs instead of rushing into a studio to record the first thing that pops into his head. This is hard and catchy rock that smashes together the best of Oasis, Stereophonics and Biffy Clyro.

Along with Dan Against The World, Urbnri are the forerunners of everything that is musically great stomping out of Scotland without a care in the world. I salute you!
