Having scoured the length and breath of America, picking up members here and there before basing themselves in Portland, Oregon, Dirt Jake Replicas are unsurprisingly a mixed bag of musicians, which luckily for us makes for a pretty intriguing and instantly gripping sound. With the simplicity of the band ending with the title of their debut UK single’s title, ‘Part 1’, DJR are a band that literally make you stop and listen, locking in only to their sound as the track twists and turns with a ominous sense of foreboding that relentlessly enthrals.
With a soft drum beat and gentle guitar, ‘Part 1’ immediately conjures a cinematic feel that envelopes all, drawing you further into the track as the duel vocals of Dakota and Ashley provide juxtaposed vibrancy to the track, perfectly creating a layered texture of soft gentility alongside the strong and powerful that steadily build momentum along with the rest of the band. Oozing with passion and radiating an stimulating darkness throughout that captivates and inspires, ‘Part 1’ explodes with emotion that will leave you breathless.
