One's To Watch?

Indie kids the length of the country are going to think all their Christmases have come at once with London based Olympus Mons. Stealthily stealing the trademark core essentials from the indie scene and drizzling them with their own little kitsch quirks, Olympus Mons have certainly carved out a new slot for themselves in the music world, one that makes them sound appealing and reassuringly familiar but also stops them becoming drab and boring.

With the intense incessancy of Bloc Party, the coolness of Hot Hot Heat and even a touch of Kooks style vocals, ‘Let The First Time Be The Last’ tunnels through with a fast funky edge that twinkles and stabs. And all seems to go well as the funk core of the band drives the track wholeheartedly, but towards the end even that may not be enough to hold you as ‘Let The First Time Be The Last’ fades into the background. Cool, funky and with an original edge, Olympus Mons have the making to be an indie kids’ dream band, if only they can hold your attention for long enough.
