Backyard Babies formed in 1987 in Stockholm, Sweden, while Dregen, Johan and Peder were all at High School together. They started playing some shows for friends and recorded a homemade demo. Nicke joined, playing bass but by 1989 moved on to vocals and they recorded another demo. The press started taking an interest.

"We are probably the last true Rock'n'Roll volume of the world", notice guitarist Dregen with quiet satisfaction. "the world waits for a great Rock'n'Roll volume, which the things again on serrate brings, and does not give many volume there outside, which take care of this task. We want to change that."

In 1990 they started touring Sweden, positive feedback from the press led to a slot at the Hultsfred festival. MTV started airing their demo the first time MTV had played an unsigned act. Their first release was a 12" 'Something To Swallow.

Their first record deal was signed in 1993 with a contract to Megarock Records and they release their debut album 'Diesel & Power'. The band are then kept busy for the next couple of years with constant touring over most of Europe. Dregen and Nicke form a side band called The Hellacopters just for the fun of it, but they are still going strong today. In 1996 the band take a whole year off.

1997 the mayhem begins again with a support slot for Social Distortion for some German and American dates, they sign a record deal with MVG in the middle of touring. Recording the new album begins while they still appear at several Swedish festivals. 'Knockout's EP' is released and they plan to follow it up with their full album 'Total 13', but this isn't completed until January 1998. Meanwhile the band sign to Warner/Coalition after an impressive London show.
2000 sees them on tour with AC/DC and start on their new album 'Making Enemies Is Good' which was released 2002.
