Something for your mum to swing to…
The Scottish lad’s return with another single from the album, ‘In The Music’, on the back of the first single, ‘I Wish You’d Met Her’. There is an Easy-Listening edge to the band that is all very nice and soft. There is no swearing with these lads, however uncharacteristic it is from a bunch of lads from Glasgow.
In this song, ‘People’ the guitars are gentle and melodic and the beat is more like a soft tap in the background. The vocals are sung without offence and once again everything is just nice. The song reminds me of something out of the early eighties. It’s well produced, with a nice added piano and the air of strings with harmonies. I’m sure my parents would love this, and perhaps that is the problem.
‘People’ is well written, and lyrically it’s a well observed in regards to human behaviour, but it’s not an instant classic, and I wonder how many times I’d have to listen to it before it grew on me. The album has some better tracks than this one so I would go and get the album instead. I now feel so clean that I’d feel like google-ing naughty words to feel like myself again…
