Blazing A Trail

Blink 182 may have rebuilt bridges, written new material and still have a UK tour to do later this summer but that doesn't mean that Tom DeLonge has put Angel & Airwaves on the back burner. Referred to by DeLonge as his "art project", something which enables him to fuse together his own multi-media experiences along with music, Angel & Airwaves has always seemed like Blink 182's much older, much more mature bigger brother and with the band's latest single, Surrender, things certainly seem to be following the same path.

Taken from their next album, LOVE Part One & Two, Surrender concocts a heady mix of laid back ease sprinkled with an insatiable infectiousness that is topped only by the melodic mastery that blazes a trail throughout the track. Tender and slow to start, Surrender gently ushers you into Angel & Airwaves realm as DeLonge's distinct and instantly recognisable vocals steadily unwrap the track, almost as if he is peeling back layers, gradually building the tempo alongside his passion packed voice until Surrender all but explodes into a hook laden wonder that will stay with you long after the last beat has been played.
