European Disco Anyone?

As far as dance music goes, 'Always Too Late (Joakim Dub Mix)' is more likely to have you falling asleep than rushing to the dance floor. Listening to it magically transports you to the 1980's disco, an era everyone would gladly forget. Added to this is a music mix which sounds like a cross between a phone ringing and a tap dripping. Although vocals do appear now and then, they are too few and far between to break the monotony of the track. More promising is 'Always Too Late (Joakim Vocal Mix)'. As the title suggests, this track contains more vocals and it improves the song immensely. The verses are almost spoken with the same, although slightly faster technique used for the chorus. Unfortunately though, the track still seems to be stuck in a time warp. The mixing is at times pretty basic and very reminiscent of the 1980s, making it sound at times like a soundtrack to the original Star Wars films.

'Helpless Fool For Love (Patrick Wolf Remix)' is arguably the strongest track on the EP but again it suffers from all the same downfalls and problems. This is a faster track with lyrics which actually seem to make sense, a fact lacking in the other song. If dance music of the European disco style is your cup of tea then this EP ticks all the right boxes. It certainly would not be out of place in a German discotheque. Sadly the songs drag on for too long, seeming to go nowhere. Instead they simply seem to cover old ground making them seem quite tedious and way too repetitive.
