Has anybody actually seen this guy's birth certificate? Just listen to Paolo Nutini sing one note and you too will be trying to figure out how such a soulfully wise voice can escape from a mere nineteen year olds body. But then Nutini isn't all that he seems. With a name that harks back to his distant Italian relations, Nutini actually hails from Paisley, Scotland and looks set to unleash the colossally captivating 'Last Request' upon the world.
On lyrics alone 'Last Request' is emotionally absorbing but when coupled with the raw naturalness of Nutini the song simply soars to another level. With a gruff huskiness strewn around each word and a wearily wise essence flowing throughout, Nutini literally breathes life into the track, bringing each line to life and making 'Last Request' grippingly addictive. In 'Last Request' Paolo Nutini has been able to craft a song that on the surface appears blissfully simplistic and yet harbours an intricate complexity that is compelling. Slow and heartfelt, 'Last Request' proves that Nutini is a singer songwriter not to be passed by and is certainly a name to keep an eye on. 'Last Request' could just be this years 'Beautiful' but for all the right reasons and with the added bonus of true musical skill.
